Picture with a celebrity!

This weekend, Candice was working the Health Expo at the Trade Mart downtown. So I decided to go see her and see what the Expo was all about. I got there about 2 hours before it was supposed to be over and about half the booth were already gone. But I was able to get my cholesterol and BMI measured/checked. And Patrick House were there to meet people! I probably hadn't seen him since high school. It was fun to see him and I got a quick picture with him!

The Great Gatsby

Book Review: The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s third book, stands as the supreme achievement of his career. This exemplary novel of the Jazz Age has been acclaimed by generations of readers. The story of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan, of lavish parties on Long Island at a time when The New York Times noted “gin was the national drink and sex the national obsession,” it is an exquisitely crafted tale of America in the 1920s.

I've read this book several times, but wanted to do a quick reread of the book before the movie comes out on May 10. It was fun to reread the book, and I can't wait for the movie!! Here are a couple of movie trailers....

World Book Night 2013!

Today was World Book Night 2013! A few months ago I applied and was picked to be a book giver. The book I chose to give was Tina Fey's Bossypants. I received 20 copies to give away and promote reading! I gave some away at the gym and at work. It was so much fun making people's day by giving people free books!

Texas Grapefruit!

Last weekend, John and I went with some friends to Lake Livingston, TX for a weekend at his boss's lake house. We were driving around and saw a huge Texas Grapefruit tree near an abandoned house. They were delicious! They were actually very sweet and I got to use my Grapefruit spoon!

Book Review!

Bossypants is an autobiographical comedy book by Tina Fey. I had wanted to read it for a while so, I picked it up from the library. I thought it was really funny and very witty. Another reason I read it was because I was picked to be a 2013 World Book Night giver, and this was the book I was going to be giving away. So excited for World Book Night!
