New Catching Fire Trailer!

Get Excited!

Book Review

Book Summary: For The Only 127 Things You Need, author Donna Wilkinson spoke to more than fifty experts— authorities on the mind, the body, and the spirit—to discover the absolute essential “items” for living a good life. Ever wish you could strip you life down to just the bare essentials—that you could “de-clutter” not just the physical items littering your home but the endless “to-do” lists flooding your mind? But what to throw away? And what to keep? For so many of us, it’s hard to move forward with the important things in life without first “paring down” and “straightening up.” With this complete guide to life’s essentials, it will finally be possible to see the forest for all those trees.

I heard about this book from a minimalist blog I subscribe to. I was excited that the library had a copy. I have to say, I don't know why I try and read "self help" type books. I usually don't enjoy them, and this one was no different. It was probably one of the worst books I've read in a while. It not useful at all. I thought about not finishing it, but I had already invested time in it and I decided to finish it. I was glad to return this book to the library.

Book Review

Book Summary: In Some Notes on River Country, a dreamlike meandering through the landscape in eloquent prose and evocative photographs, Welty's empathetic presence is felt. Taking the reader on an imagined journey, Welty combines the genres of travel narrative, character study, and geographical history to give a grand tour of the region. This brilliant portrait of a place is both elegiac and animated as she shows how much has changed, how much can never be recovered, and how much of the old river country remains in its contemporary incarnation. The essay and photographs explore the Natchez Trace, Grand Gulf, Port Gibson, Vicksburg, Natchez, Rodney's Landing, and other locales, offering insight on their quirky denizens, their significant history, and their entrancing uniqueness.

Another Mississippi author book pick from the library. This was probably my favorite collection of Eudora Welty's photographs. And I also enjoyed the writing in the book more!

Books Review

Got this book in the Mississippi authors section at the library. It was a fun little book, some of the cartoons I had seen, others were new to me. But still a nice collection from Marshall Ramsey.

Pinterest Recipe

Pizza Grilled Cheese

I got this meal idea off Pinterest. It's pretty much just a doctored grilled cheese, but I was easy and quick to make. And only 6 WW Plus Points

Ingredients:

2 slices Healthy Life bread (or your favorite gluten-free bread)
1 tbsp Smart Balance light butter
1 Kraft fat free mozzarella cheese slice (or mozzarella flavored Soy cheese)
6 turkey pepperoni slices
2 tbsp Prego Light Smart Italian marinara sauce

Directions:

1. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
2. Spread 1/2 tbsp butter on each slice of bread.
3. Place one slice of bread butter side down on skillet.  Place cheese slice and pepperoni slices on non-buttered side. Add second piece of bread on top, butter side up.
4. Flip when golden brown and toast the other side.
5. When other side is golden brown and cheese is melted, transfer to plate. Cut in half.
6. Serve with side of marinara to dip in.

Gulf Shores, AL!!

For the 4th, I went with some girlfriends to the beach! We went to Gulf Shores, AL, my first trip there... It rained almost the whole time, but we were still able to have a great time. I tried and actually liked raw oysters!!

Usually I'm pretty good about taking pictures but these are the only pictures I managed to snag.

One of two days we were able to put our feet in the sand.
