First Class!

I had a super early flight out of Munich, and John, being the wonderful boyfriend that he is, got up with me, even though his fight wasn't until later in the morning. My flight was so early that John couldn't get his ticket or check his bag so I had to leave him so I could get through security. I was a little sad to leave him after getting to see him for 10 days on our wonderful vacation. But all good things come to an end and it was time to get back to the real world.

John, also being a great boyfriend, got me first class tickets from the way home! This was my breakfast from Munich to Paris. Even though I had already had breakfast with John, I still tried just about everything on this plate! It was very tasty!

I did not have such a great time when I was in Paris. I was supposed to be on a flight out of Paris at 10:00 a.m. but it was delayed a little and I didn't leave until 8:30 p.m.! So, I had a very long day in the Paris airport. After a few hours of sitting and waiting to hear exactly how long it was going to be delayed (at first they cancelled the flight), I knew I was going to be there a while. Since I had a first class ticket I was able to get out in the airport and get into the United Lounge Club, where I had a nice variety of food and adult beverages, which I needed!

After being in the airport for almost 11 hours, I was so tired and ready to get some sleep. That is until the first class treatment started. As soon as I sat in my seat I was offered Champagne and I woke up!

Me sitting cozy in first class!
I was trying to take pictures of my seat in first class, when the couple sitting next to me offered to take my picture if I would take theirs.

I have a habit of sometimes taking picture of my food, I tried to take pictures of my first class experience. (I got most of them, it was a lot of food!)

Started with wine and warm nuts. This wine was tasty!

They were not skimpy with the wine either. When the attendant asked if I wanted to try another red and I somehow ended up with a flight of wine. Haha! Flight on my flight.

Appetizer. Melon & Prosciutto and Smoked Tuna & Salmon with wasabi sauce.
This was so good! After this there was a salad.

Dinner was pasta!

After dinner was cheese, crackers, fruit, and Port Wine.
After this there was an Ice Cream Sundae and after dinner drinks!
I was so stuffed. It was such a great meal, and I had such a great time!

I stayed in the dark the whole way across.

I was able to get some sleep on the plane in the fancy lay down seats/beds. I landed in Houston at about midnight and was greeted with a package for a hotel and meal vouchers in Houston, where I was able to get about 4 hours of sleep before I had to be on my flight to Jackson.

Kind of a funny story about the meal vouchers. United gave me $60 in vouchers to spend on meals and it was only good for that day. When I landed at midnight in Houston, all the stores were closed, and thanks to the hotel shuttle, I made it to the airport just in time for my flight. So when I landed in Jackson, I was only able to use the vouchers at Starbucks. I got myself a large coffee and even "treated" the only person in line, a pilot, to a coffee of his choice. After two large fancy coffees I had only spent $9. I wasn't allowed to leave the vouchers for someone else or use it on coffee beans. I was, however, allowed to use them on the snacks and other canned Starbucks products. So, I spent all the money United gave me at the Starbucks. At lease I'll have some fun snacks to keep at my desk for a while!

Street Performer

Here is a video of the street performer in Munich, Germany. He is playing a cimbalom.
Ignore the drunk guys trying to interrupt him...

Rathaus-Glockenspiel

Here is the video I took for the Rathaus-Glockenspiel at the Marienplatz in Munich, Germany. The figurines don't start moving until a couple minutes into the video. It's not the greatest video, it was taken with my I-phone. But I figured I would share it anyway!

Seeing the sites in Munich

For our last day in Munich was did some sight seeing. We did some walking around and also did a double decker bus tour. The first thing we did was head to the Marienplatz to see the 11:00 a.m. chime of the Rathaus-Glockenspiel.

Rathaus-Glockenspiel

The figurines moved around to a 12 minutes chiming tune. I have a not so great video that I will try and share. But I'm glad I got to see the long showing of the figurines moving. It was really neat!

I thought this door was very pretty.

BMW plant/museum/headquarters

The museum was closed the day we went to BMW. We had considered the plant tour but it was going to make us miss our bus to get back close to the hotel, so we just spent the afternoon walking around BMW and the Olympiapark.

Coaster

We had Apfelstrudel or Apple Strudel. Since this dessert originated in Germany, John suggested we try it. It was so delicious!

Apfelstrudel

On our way back to the hotel, we saw this man with this interesting instrument. We thought it was in the harpsichord family. So we asked him about it and he told us it's a cimbalom. It's a gypsy instrument and is similar to a hammered dulcimer. He was actually done with his concert, but pulled out the mallets anyways.
I thought he was going to play a few notes so we could see what is sounded like, but he ended up playing a mini concert for me and John! It was awesome! He was a very talented musician. I got a small video that I will try and upload. It has been such a good time in Munich and this was a great ending to a wonderful vacation!!!
