My First Pedicure!

The other day, my friend Jenny called to see it I wanted to get our nails done for the reunion. I agreed and was pretty excited about it. I hadn't had a manicure in a while and had never had a pedicure.

When I got there I was going to chicken out of the pedicure, I hate feet (having mine touched or touching them)! But Jenny talked me into it...

 After! (no before)

After it was all done, I really enjoyed it! I warned the nail tech before he got started that I didn't like feet and that I was very ticklish. I especially enjoyed the foot whirlpool! And although I wasn't a fan of the "cheese grater thing" scrapping on my feet, I liked how my feet felt when it was done. This isn't something I would keep up, but for a nice occasion, I would do it again!

Side Note: While Jenny and I were getting our nails done, we saw another girl that we had graduated high school with! It kind of felt like the prom, everyone getting their nails done before the big night!

The Tudors!

Thanks to Netflix, I hooked on yet another Showtime show. I finished season 1 of the Tudors tonight and it's actually pretty good. Some of the story line is not historically accurate, but it's still entertaining...

Angels in America

Several several months ago, John sent me home with the mini series Angels in America, put out by HBO about 6 years ago. I had heard about it, but didn't really know what it was about. I had kind of forgotten I had it until the summer lull hit, so I decided I would finally watch it.

It's a six-hour miniseries about the AIDS epidemic in the mid-80s in NYC. (It was originally a play.) It has an all-star cast starring: Al Pacino, Mary-Louise Parker, Meryl Streep, and Emma Thompson, just to name a few.

If follows many story lines, with all the characters intertwining in some way. Some of it was very strange and weird, but in the end it was just different for the movies and shows that I usually watch. It was more of a dark humor drama, but more sad than happy. At times, it felt like more like a play than a movie, especially at the end, where the character were looking directly at the camera and talking to the audience. It wasn't really bad, but I didn't really enjoy it all that much. I think I might enjoy the play better, probably because the movie lasted 6 hours! But it was interesting and something different to watch.

Time with my sis!

Teresa came over tonight to watch my newest Netflix movie, Twilight in Forks. But first we headed over to Sal and Mookie's for some pizza.

We split a pepperoni pizza and got ice cream! It was delicious, and because we got there before 6 we got the early bird discount. So it was like we got our ice cream for free!

I had seen the trailer for this movie on the New Moon DVD and thought it looked interesting. It's a documentary about the city of Forks, where the Twilight books take place. It was interesting to see how the book have affected this small town in Washington. If you are a Twilight fan, you'll enjoy this!

12 mile run!

Today I had to run 12 miles! At first it was nice and overcase, then it rained about 20 drops, just enough to make it miserable. It was fine until about mile10, when the sun came out, and made things scorching! I can't wait for some cooler weather!

Thought this was a funny shoe ad:

Weekend in Houston!

I'm so surprised with myself, I didn't take any pictures this weekend! Well, here's a little play by play of the weekend anyway...

Thursday:

I made my way to Houston to spend the weekend with John! He this there for two weeks teaching a class for work and this is the middle point.

I took off work early so I could catch the last flight out of Jackson.

Needless to say I did something not so smart, I forgot the Dramamine at home. Once I landed in Houston, I felt so sick! I thought if I got some food in me it would make it all better. Not so much. I spend most of the ride to the hotel sick.

Later that night I did feel tons better! And knew that a good nights sleep would get be back to 100%.

Friday:

Got to sleep in a little bit. Yay! John had to go teach today so I had the day to relax.

Spent some of the morning out by the pool! It was so nice out. But I only lasted about an hour, the the nice wore off and it was just plan hot!

Got kidnapped for lunch which was great! Cane's! It was so delicious!

Spent the afternoon at The Galleria! It was fun to just walk around people watched. This mall is so huge it takes several hours just to walk through it. I did find a good deal on a pair of new blue jean at the Gap. I only spend $2! Well, they were on super sale for $19.99, extra 40% off sale items which put it at $11.99, then with my $10 gift card from my Gap Visa bill, left my total at $2.14!

For dinner we went to Pappasito's! It really great Mexican and one of those places you have to go to when you are in Houston.

Saturday:

Got up early to go grocery shopping with the Leslie and Lacy to get ready for the party that night!

Took and afternoon NAP!!! It was wonderful!

That night was the party! It was tons for fun: plenty of friends, food, and booze!

Sunday:

Today was pretty laid back. We went to The Galleria for lunch, video games (I was with 3 guys), and then we all got very large cookies for Toll House.

We headed to one of the guy hotel, where their was a special game room for company employees. Air hockey, foosball, and pool!

After that it was time to go to the airport to head back to Jackson.

It was a few weekend and I was so glad to spend time with my sweetie!

I Hate The Dentist!

Before I left for Houston to see John, I had to go to the dentist for cleaning and x-rays. I hate the dentist. I would rather go to the OB/GYN then go to the dentist!

Lucky me, I do have a small cavity that will need to be filled. So I get to go back in two weeks! Yea!

Netflix Night!

I finally got to see Hancock, starring Will Smith and Charlize Theron. It about  lazy and drunk superhero, that straightens up and discovers a lot about him self that he had forgotten.

I thought it was pretty good. It was a lot more of a grown up super hero movie then I thought. Defiantly not for the kiddos. I was glad I got to see it, but probably will never watch it again.

Cute YouTube Video!

I thought this was a really cute! Enjoy!

Heart Rate Monitor!

I finally got my heart rate monitor in the mail today! I ordered it almost 2 weeks ago, but because I got the super saver shipping on Amazon, it took a little while.

So excited about my new running/workout toy! And it's purple! I hoping to get it programed so I can use it tomorrow!!

Netflix night!

Emily Blunt plays Queen Victoria. This movie is about her being a teenager, knowing that on the day she turns 18, she will be queen. The movie chronicles just the first few years of Victoria's reign. I found it very interesting, I didn't know much about Queen Victoria before I saw the movie and learned a lot. Like the way she was treated and how controlled her life was before she became queen (someone had to hold her hand walking down stairs and sample her food before she could eat). She was also the first queen to live in Buckingham Palace, she had 9 children, and after her husband died, she mourned him for 40 by wearing black and laying his clothes everyday!

This movie was a little slow, but told a great story and the scenes and costumes were gorgeous. If you like period movies, this is one you need to add to your list.

Snake on my run!

This morning I had to run 10 miles. I ran on the Ridgeland Multi-purpose trails, where I usually do my long runs. I was about a 1/2 mile from my car when I noticed, what I thought was a stick on the track. Only when I got closer, it started to move.... Yep it was a snake!!! I was about 3 feet long. I backed about 10 feet away and waited for it to cross the path and then continued to my car. After doing a little research, I think it was just a water snake. But it sure scared the crap out of me!

New Vampire Movie?

Even though I am quite the TwiHeart, I think this movie is going to be funny. Enjoy!

08 July 2010

Big Brother

Because there aren't any summer shows that have caught my attention, I've been talked into watching Big Brother by some co-workers.

I watched the first season it was on, but never watched it agian. Tonight is the first night, so I guess I'll give it another try. We'll see how it goes!

4th in OK City!

One thing we had planned to do while I was in OK City, was to go to a water park. Never happened. It rained everyday! Not all day, but just enough to not risk going to the water park and then having to leave. So we ended up going to the movies again!

This was a funny and cute movie. Unlike most of Adam Sandler's movies, this one was geared towards the family. It has an all star cast including, Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, and Salma Hayek, just to name a few. It's about this group of guys that end up crossing paths again because their high school basketball coach passes away. After the funeral, these five friends decided to get a cabin for a Fourth of July holiday weekend. It may not be one you need to watch in the theater, but a must watch movie!!

After the movie, we were able to set up our lawn chairs in front of the movie theater to get ready to watch some fire works! It was lots of fun, I love fireworks!

Happy Independence Day!

Hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July!!!

More fun in OK City!

This morning we slept in! Yea! It was so nice! For lunch we just ordered pizza and stayed in. It was fun just to sit around and do nothing!

This afternoon we decided to go bowling and to watch the UFC fight! We headed down to Bricktown to a bowling ally called Redpin.

When we got to Redpin, all the lanes were booked, so we decided to have a few beers, grab some dinner, and then head back to the bowling alley at 10:00 p.m. for the fight!

100 oz. of beer

When we ordered this we thought it was going to be a bowling ball at the end, but when they brought it out, it was a OU helmet! Oh well, I was still fun looking. Everyone that was walking into the bowling alley kept looking at us, it was pretty entertaining!

After we finished out tube of beer, we got a quick bite to eat at a pizza by the slice place and then headed to the movie.

Knight and Day, starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz was a fun and cute summer flick. The only problem I had was we got in the theater a little late and ended up on the third row. Not good. I got pretty motion sick but I tried not to let it bother me.

After the movie we headed back to Redpin to watch the UFC fight and play! We played two rounds and I was at the bottom both times, but it was still lots of fun! We sat around for a while after we got done with our games and visited with some friends.

When we got home though, I was pretty sick from watching the movie so close. No fun! Although it was something I already know before I will never sit so close in a movie again!!

02 July 2010

OK City!

Today I made my way to Oklahoma City to spend the 4th of July holiday weekend with John!

For lunch we went to Pei Wei! I was so excited. We don't have one in MS and I love it!

Yum!

Later, we meet up with some friends at the casino!!

We had so much fun at the casino! John gave me some money to play with and I actually won! The only down side to this casino is no free drinks! At the casinos on Vicksburg and Vegas, they have waitresses that come around and bring you free drinks, as long are you are playing. But there was a perk, they had free self-served soft ice cream!!! Yum!

Eclipse!!!

Me, Teresa, and a friend from work Lacey went to Malco to see Eclipse tonight! I was so excited about seeing it and it didn't disappoint. This was definitely the better of the three. Even though it was 2 hrs long, it seemed to be over too fast. But this one did seem to stick closer to the book, which I loved. The movies just seem to get better and better. I know it's silly, but I'll probably go see it again!
