Movie Review - Safe Haven

Summary: A young woman with a mysterious past lands in Southport, North Carolina where her bond with a widower forces her to confront the dark secret that haunts her.

Today was an early Friday from work. So a few co-workers and I went to see Safe Haven. One of my co-workers (Morgan) and I read the book before hand. So we were exiled to the end of the row so the others couldn't hear us complain about how things were different in the book. The movie was much different from the book, but it was still a pretty good movie. And we were able to hold our complains until the end of the movie...

SAIL - AWOLNATION

Happy Friday! This song is was stuck in my head. Thought I would share.
Music video is a little weird...

Book Re-Read!

Teresa and I are doing a re-read of the Harry Potter books and today I finished book 3, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban! I actually check this book out from the library on my Kindle. I was pretty excited that I figured out how to do this. My library doesn't offer that much yet, but their selection is getting better.

Movie Review - Warm Bodies

Movie Summary: With much of the future world's population rendered into an undead horde, R is a young, and oddly introspective, zombie. On a feeding encounter with a human gathering party, R meets Julie and feels an urge to protect her. What happens with that is the beginnings of a strangely warm relationship that causes R to start to regain his humanity. As this change spreads throughout the undead population, Julie and R eventually find they are facing a larger issue even as their friendship is challenged. Caught between the paranoid human forces and the bonies zombies who are a mutual threat, R and Julie must find a way to bridge the sides to fight for a better world no one thought possible.

This was another book to movie that I was really looking forward to seeing. I really enjoyed this movie and thought the did a great job with the adaptation. It was a fun movie to see and I really enjoyed it!!

Movie Review - Beautiful Creatures

Movie Summary: Ethan longs to escape his small Southern town. He meets a mysterious new girl, Lena. Together, they uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town.

Teresa and I when and saw this movie this weekend. I had really been looking forward to seeing this movie (I've read the first 2 books in this series). I was a bit disappointed with the movie. I understand that they can't include everything in the book, it was like they took 40% of the first book, 10% of the second book and use half of those ideas. Everything else was completely different. Don't know how they are going to make the rest of the books into movies, we'll see though.

Movie Review - Identity Thief

Short Summary: Mild-mannered businessman Sandy Patterson travels from Denver to Miami to confront the deceptively harmless-looking woman who has been living it up after stealing Sandy's identity.

I saw this movie with a friend from work. This movie was pretty good, and had some really funny part. There were a few slow moments, but it has a great surprising ending. Overall I thought this was a cute movie.

Okay - Ep: 88

Beach Weekend - Freeport, TX

This weekend, me and John met some friends at the beach in Freeport, TX. This is a small city outside of Galveston. It was a fun weekend. It was a little chilly, but once we were outside for a few minutes it was very pleasant! We spend most of our time on the beach and playing Mexican Train. It was so much fun, and a much needed getaway! Here are a few pictures...

One of the few times the sun was out.

Path from the beach house.

Beach house. Since it was the off season, John got a great deal!

One of many beach pictures I took.

Another kite picture.

Chilly waves.

The water was so cold!

Book Review - Beautiful Darkness

Book Summary: Ethan Wate used to think of Gatlin, the small Southern town he had always called home, as a place where nothing ever changed. Then he met mysterious newcomer Lena Duchannes, who revealed a secret world that had been hidden in plain sight all along. A Gatlin that harbored ancient secrets beneath its moss-covered oaks and cracked sidewalks. A Gatlin where a curse has marked Lena's family of powerful Supernaturals for generations. A Gatlin where impossible, magical, life-altering events happen. Sometimes life-ending. Together they can face anything Gatlin throws at them, but after suffering a tragic loss, Lena starts to pull away, keeping secrets that test their relationship. And now that Ethan's eyes have been opened to the darker side of Gatlin, there's no going back. Haunted by strange visions only he can see, Ethan is pulled deeper into his town's tangled history and finds himself caught up in the dangerous network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, where nothing is as it seems.

This is the 2nd book in the Caster Chronicles book series. The first book being Beautiful Creatures. This book picked up right were the Beautiful Creatures left off. I actually enjoyed it better then the first and it left you with a bigger cliffhanger then the first. I'm on the list at the library for the 3rd book, can't wait!
