Beyonce

The other night I watch the Billboard Music Awards on and off. I did get to see Beyonce. Most of her songs are pretty catchy, however I really don't care for her all that much. And I was not that impressed with her performance at the award show, especially with the list of people, including Michelle Obama, talking about what an inspiration she is to young girls everywhere. The song she sang was Girl Rule the Mother F'in World. Inspiration to young girls, I think not. But anyway, I came across this video the other day and thought I would share. Turns out Beyonce's performance was not original at all, she copied another singers performance from an award show in Italy in 2010. Below is a side by side to show just how much she copied. Just another reason to not like Beyonce.

Movie Afternoon!

Spoiler Alert. Do not read if you ever plan on watching this movie.

This afternoon I watched Sunrise. I've had this movie for a while but haven't had a chance to watch it until this afternoon. This movie is about a farmer who falls for a lady from the city. The lady from the city convinces the farmer to downed his wife and move to the city with her. The man takes his wife on a boat ride ready to kill her when he stops himself, and falls back in love with his wife. The couple go on there own adventure in the city. On their way back to their house, they are caught in a terrible storm and their boat capsizes! Leaving the man believing his wife really has drowned!! The man then, believing his wife is dead, almost strangles the woman from the city, for putting the idea in his head of killing his wife. While the man is strangling the woman from the city, he hears shouts from the towns people saying the wife is alive! The lady from the city, goes back to the city, and the man and wife live happily ever after. The End.

I thought this movie was very good. This movie was a silent movie made in 1927. This was my first silent movie to watch. Throughout the movie there a few cue cards but not many. You really had pay attention to what was going on. It made for an interesting experience!

New Restaurant!

Tonight I finally got to go to Burgers & Blues. I've heard a lot about it but haven't been able to go until tonight! I got the Hwy 61 Bacon & Blue Burger. It was just what it says, a burger with crispy bacon, blue cheese, and a blue cheese sauce. This was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. If you don't like blue cheese, this would not be the burger for you. Between the blue cheese crumples and the blue cheese sauce, it was A LOT of blue cheese. We sat outside, the weather was wonderful! There was also a great band playing. Can't wait to go back!

Here we go again!

Since completing the St. Jude Marathon last December, I've sort of been in a running rut. So, what's a better way to get myself out of this rut then to sign up for another race! Yes, another marathon! Because I am an alumni, it was super cheap to sign up for it by today. So now, I'm forcing myself to get out and run more!! Yea! I should be posting my running schedule next week. Let the countdown begin, 33 weeks to go!

Book Review!

This is one of the most delightful books I've read in a while. I simply loved this book! I grew up seeing the movies but had never read the book until now. I look forward to reading the rest of the series soon! For those who don't know what these books are about, I've included a the summary below.

When Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert of Green Gables, Prince Edward Island, send for a boy orphan to help them out at the farm, they are in no way prepared for the error that will change their lives. The mistake takes the shape of Anne Shirley, a redheaded 11-year-old girl who can talk anyone under the table. Fortunately, her sunny nature and quirky imagination quickly win over her reluctant foster parents. Anne's feisty spirit soon draws many friends--and much trouble--her way. Not a day goes by without some melodramatic new episode in the tragicomedy of her life. Early on, Anne declares her eternal antipathy for Gilbert Blythe, a classmate who commits the ultimate sin of mocking her hair color. Later, she accidentally dyes that same cursed hair green. Another time, in her haste to impress a new neighbor, she bakes a cake with liniment instead of vanilla. Lucy Maud Montgomery's series of books about Anne have remained classics since the early 20th century. Her portrayal of this feminine yet independent spirit has given generations of girls a strong female role model, while offering a taste of another, milder time in history.

New Restaurant!

Tonight, before I headed back to Jackson, John and I met Moose and Ashley for dinner. We decided to try the Thai House, it was right across the street from John's apartment and he hadn't tried it either. I got the Pad Thai and John got the Chicken Curry. It was very very good, but entirely too much food! I didn't even make it through half the plate. Moose and Ashley shared the Pad Thai, and even they couldn't finish the whole plate! And John had leftovers as well. Needless to say, John had lunch and dinner for the next couple of days.

New Restaurant!

For lunch today, John and I grabbed a quick bite at Panda Express. I had heard about Panda Express before, but I had never been to one until today. It sort of looked like the Chinese eateries you see in the mall, but it was nicer and I loved had quick and fresh it was. It was also pretty tasty and delicious! A delightful lunch with my sweetie!

Movie Night!

Tonight I watched The Apartment, starring Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine, and Fred MacMurray. The movie is about a clerk, Bud Baxter, who works for an insurance company in New York.  He lets men in the company use his apartment to have affairs. He is persuaded to do this by the higher ups in the company whom promise him it will help him move up in the company. Baxter has a crush on a girl, who heart belongs to another, and there is a twist ending...

I had wanted to see this movie for a while. When John and I went to New York over Christmas, we saw a Broadway play called Promises, Promises. The play was based on this movie The Apartment. I thought it was pretty good, it was just about the same as the play, so I wasn't surprised at the ending. The only real difference was that the movie provided no singing and dancing.

Movie Night!

Night I watched Easy Rider, staring Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, and Jack Nicholson. It's about two .friends who have lots of cash from a cocaine sale. They decided to get on their motorcycles and ride across America toward New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras. Along their journey they encounger several interesing people.

I won't tell you how it ends, but this was a pretty depressing guy movie. I was not expecting it to end the way that it did. But it was still a pretty good movie, worth the watch!
